It is recommended to have a chimney swept that is in regular use annually or twice a year if you have a thatched roof in line with insurance company requirements.

A chimney needs to be swept for the following reasons:

Prevents fire in the flue.
Allows smoke and fumes to be efficiently vented.
Greater heat and fuel efficiency.
Birds Nests
Bird’s nests in chimneys can be a serious problem. Mainly jackdaw’s nests, they can completely block a chimney causing smoke and carbon-monoxide to enter the room and also the possibility the nest could catch fire.   I am fully equipped to deal with any type of nest.
